Hey, welcome back to the Emotional Wound Clinic up on Floor 62! It's good to see y'all again. Now, when I peeped this week's journal entry, I gotta admit, I was like, "Can I keep it real with this?" But then I thought, why not? Authenticity is where it's at, fam. So, shout out to all of y'all rocking with me on this journey. These blogs? They're like those timeless tarot readings on YouTube – always hitting at just the right moment. So, let's get into it. This week's question is all about those soul-shaking tunes. You know, the ones that hit you deep down where it counts. The ones you might be hesitant to share, 'cause they're like your secret stash of emotional ammo. But hey, I'm opening up, so let's dive in together. First up, we got "Thug's Passion" by Tupac. Now, let me tell you, this joint takes me way back. I'm talking listening to it with my sis, both of us vibin' hard. And Tupac? Man, he was on another level, especially in "Juice." That scene had me feeling some type of way – Harley Quinn vibes, anyone? Something about his sociopathic eyes! Next, we got "I See Red" by Everyone Loves an Outlaw. Yo, this song? It's like it was written just for me. The lyrics hit deep, like they know exactly what's been going down in my life. It's my go-to when I'm feeling some betrayal, anger, or just straight-up hurt. Now, let's talk about Tina Turner's "I Don't Wanna Fight." After watching "What's Love Got to Do with It," I was hooked. Tina took the words right out of my mouth with this one. It's like she's speaking my truth, straight into my Hulu original movie starring yours truly. And yo, who could forget "When Doves Cry" by Prince? This track? It's a whole vibe. Prince's sound is like therapy for the soul, asking all the right questions and letting you holler out your frustrations. Plus, that line about screaming at each other? Hits different, for real. And as a bonus, let's give a shoutout to Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next." This song? It's all about bouncing back stronger after getting knocked down. 'Cause let's be real, we all gotta learn from our past and level up. So there you have it, fam. Music ain't just notes and beats – it's therapy, it's vibes, it's Harley Quinn moments in "Juice." So next time you're feeling some type of way, throw on one of these jams and let your soul groove.  By the way, the journal I'm using is special – found it at the 5 and Below store, called "The Playlist of My Life: A Music and Lyric Journal." How cool is that? The perfect place to document the tunes that soundtrack my life. https://www.amazon.com/Playlist-My-Life-Lyrics-Journal/dp/0593673891/ref=asc_df_0593673891/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647187309489&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6506805702559725320&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011146&hvtargid=pla-1995975201577&psc=1&mcid=b654e4176d2130ea9e142cae8b117724 (https://www.amazon.com/Playlist-My-Life-Lyrics-Journal/dp/0593673891/ref=asc_df_0593673891/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647187309489&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6506805702559725320&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011146&hvtargid=pla-1995975201577&psc=1&mcid=b654e4176d2130ea9e142cae8b117724) Share your a personal song of yours in the comment!  Be Kind, ya’ll The Emotional Wound Coach

Hey folks, it's Alison, your Emotional Coach, back in the blog groove love for each and every one of you. I'm still soaking in the vibes we're sharing through these blogs. Today, let's chat about something that's been on my mental playlist – time. Buckle up for the next journal entry – it's called "Be Present." They say music is the key to this thing we mental health enthusiasts call Mindfulness. You know, those therapy techniques like CBT and DBT? Well, music is my prescription, my soul medicine. I work with clients dealing with PTSD and Anxiety, and let me tell you, music is a game-changer. This journal exercise asks us to dive deep into an old favorite and really soak it in. What did I choose? "O-o-h Child" by the Five Stairsteps. When I tuned into that track, it was like a journey back in time. It's not just a song; it's a memory. Picture this: fish fry sizzling, lightning bugs doing their thing. It's like a warm hug for the soul. Those horns? They grab you, and the melody? It's a guide, leading me straight to the smell of fish and cornbread. By the way, the journal I'm using is special – found it at the 5 and Below store, called "The Playlist of My Life: A Music and Lyric Journal." How cool is that? The perfect place to document the tunes that soundtrack my life. Check it out here. Now, I want to hear from you! What does your perfect playlist feel like? Is it a mix of emotions, or does it follow a specific theme? Share your thoughts, and let's celebrate the beauty of music together. To our new members, welcome! Catch up on our previous blogs – we've explored exciting topics, from unraveling the mysteries of time to the enchanting world of crafting the perfect playlist. Each post is a piece of the emotional puzzle we're putting together. As we continue this musical journey, tell me about your current favorite songs. Do they fall into the energetic, contemplative, or timeless category? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let's keep this musical conversation going strong. For those following along, thanks for your ongoing support. And to our new members, buckle up as we ride the waves of our favorite melodies together. Until next time, stay tuned for more emotional adventures! 🎶 Here's to good vibes, good lyrics, and sounds that take us back and make us feel something. Sending y'all that warm feeling, those horn-filled memories, and the melody of good times. Keep riding those grooves, Alison, The Emotions Coach 🎶✨

Hey, it's Alison, your emotional coach, checking in with another blog post! I'm really loving writing these blogs and connecting with all of you. Today, I want to talk about something that's been on my mind lately – time. Time, that elusive concept, plays tricks on us. There are moments when it feels like we're racing against it, causing frustration to creep in. Some of my clients wonder, "Is it too late for me?" But too late for what, I ponder? Singing? To whom? There's no deadline for enjoying life, singing, dancing, and embracing the light you love. These are the kind of conversations I have with God in my head. From a young age, I've been hearing God, though it wasn't always clear. Sometimes, my ideas didn't align with the messages I thought I was receiving. That's where music enters the scene – my greatest gift. God speaks to me through melodies and lyrics, forging a unique connection. Now, let's shift gears to today's journal entry topic – Playlist Perfection. What makes a playlist perfect? Should the songs stir your soul, pump you up, bring a huge smile to your face, or maybe even make you shed a tear? For me, the perfect playlist is a rollercoaster of happy memories and old friends. Picture flipping through a photo album of joyful family moments or embarking on a road trip with a best friend, belting out songs in a full-on, out-loud, over-the-top car concert. By the way, the journal I'm using is something special. I found it at the 5 and Below store, and it's called "The Playlist of My Life: A Music and Lyric Journal." How cool is that? It's the perfect place to document the tunes that soundtrack my life. Hey there, it's The Emotional Coach. 🌟 The Emotional Wound Clinic is close to my heart, born out of my experiences as a paramedic in the US Air Force. Transitioning to become a psychotherapist, I discovered the profound similarity between emotional wounds and physical ones. In the clinic, I find myself drawing on the same triage skills I once used during in-flight emergencies or Mass Casualty training. Those late nights, working the Panama schedule, led me to discover solace in the timeless embrace of music. It became my grounding force, a healer during the long hours tethered to this planet. For me, music is more than just a rhythm; it's a lifeline, a constant companion that kept me company during the toughest times. I've come to believe that God is a vibration, an indescribable feeling that transcends understanding, and for me, that divine energy is synonymous with music. To me, music is the language of the spirit, a symphony of chaos and balance that resonates with the essence of our existence. It's a force that goes beyond words and reaches into the very core of our being. What does music mean to you? For me, it's not just a daily savior; it's the thread that weaves through the fabric of my life. 🎶 #EmotionalCoach #MusicHeals Exciting Update: I'm thrilled to share that I'm working with clinics using "The Playlist of My Life: A Music and Lyric Journal" by Devon Fredericksen, a groundbreaking tool that adds a new dimension to our healing journey. I'll be incorporating it into my sessions with clients and sharing my own journey with you, along with the invaluable insights I'm gaining from them. Stay tuned for more musical adventures and healing discoveries! 🎵 #MusicJournal #HealingThroughMusic

Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a wise old man known for his exceptional emotional intelligence. People from all around would seek his guidance and wisdom. One day, a young villager approached the old man, seeking advice on how to handle a difficult situation. The young villager explained that he had a friend who was always quick to anger and easily offended. This friend would often lash out at others, causing distress and conflict within the village. The young villager wanted to know how to deal with this friend and help him become more emotionally aware. The wise old man listened attentively and smiled gently. He then began to tell a story: "In a beautiful garden, there were two trees standing side by side. One was an oak tree, tall and mighty, but rigid and inflexible. The other was a willow tree, graceful and flexible, bending with the wind. One day, a strong storm swept through the garden. The wind howled and the rain poured. The mighty oak tree stood its ground, unable to sway with the force of the storm. Its branches broke and it fell, unable to withstand the power of nature. On the other hand, the willow tree bent and swayed with the wind. It gracefully adapted to the storm, its branches dancing in the rain. Despite the turmoil, the willow tree remained standing, resilient and unharmed. Just like the trees, my young friend, emotional intelligence is about being flexible and adaptable. It is the ability to understand and manage our own emotions, as well as empathize with others. When faced with difficult situations or challenging individuals, it is important to remain calm and composed, like the willow tree. Instead of reacting with anger or frustration, try to understand the underlying emotions of your friend. Empathize with their experiences and perspectives. Offer a listening ear and a compassionate heart. Through patience and understanding, you may help your friend develop emotional intelligence and navigate their emotions more effectively." The young villager thanked the wise old man for his parable and left with a newfound understanding of emotional intelligence. From that day forward, he approached his friend with empathy and patience, helping him grow and learn to manage his emotions. And so, the village became a place where emotional intelligence thrived, fostering harmony and understanding among its inhabitants. The parable of the oak tree and the willow tree served as a reminder of the power of emotional intelligence and its ability to bring peace and connection to the world. I hope you like the story and take what you will from the story. Let me know in the comments your thoughts about the parable. Have you heard it? What stood out to you this time? With Love, Alison Smith, Emotions Coach
