Many Independent artists believe that the radio station is going to find their song and download it, and play it. It’s rare that an independent artist has properly registered the song to track radio play and receive royalties, and it’s even rarer for the artist to have actually sent their song to the station.

Put a song out, get feedback, and when you know that you’re not the only one who believes in it, contact the DJs and be genuine. It’s time to unify the conversations that happen separately in the music industry.

The music industry works slightly different for most major artists. Many of them really aren’t allowed to talk to anyone about their music, because they’ve agreed to let others handle business relationships, which, like everything, has pros and cons.
